5 Tips for High Performance Entrepreneurs
In my quest to achieve my potential in life and be my best self, I am constantly on the lookout for new strategies and tactics to sustain the highest levels of performance. Honestly, this has become an obsession of mine along my journey and I’ve compiled a shortlist here to help keep you performing at the top of your game.
Peak State Activation - It is well known within the high performance community, that operating in a peak mental state is absolutely vital to performing at our best. This is a strategy employed by the most successful high performers in the world from speakers to athletes to coaches. Taking a moment to charge up our brain, body, and spirit with emotion creates unstoppable energy. Go watch this video which will guide you through this simple yet highly effective process. It only takes a few minutes and will boost your productivity like none other. I practice a peak state activation exercise every morning before beginning my work and throughout the day whenever I need a boost to deliver my best.
Daily Gratitude Journal - This is one of the easiest and most powerful ways to keep you operating at your peak. The reason this is so powerful is that it can actually reprogram your subconscious mind and completely transform your life when practiced daily. Here’s what you do, grab a small notebook and every day take a few minutes to write down 10-20 things you are grateful for. If you want to take it to the next level, say each item out loud as you write it to speak the affirmation over yourself. I’ve been doing this nearly every day for the past year and a half and it has been one of the most impactful and transformative daily habits I’ve instituted to live as my best self.
High Performance Planner. The number one habit of high performers is seeking clarity. And one of the best ways to gain clarity is to fully plan each day. In fact, if your life is not at the level you desire it to be, one of the first places to look is your schedule to elevate awareness of how you are spending your time. This handy planner includes a few introspective questions to answer at the beginning and end of each day, as well as space to list your top 3 goals for the day and lines to schedule by the hour. You will certainly be more efficient and effective when you plan your day thoroughly. I’ve been using this daily since the beginning of 2019 to keep me performing at my best.
Sync Your Brain & Body - Take a few minutes and go listen to this incredibly powerful track from David Goggins. If you’re not familiar, Goggins is a former special forces operator and current ultra-endurance athlete. He’s inspirational, to say the least. According to Goggins, whenever we feel like we are completely exhausted and have nothing left to give we have actually only given 40% of what we are capable of. Meaning we still have 60% left in the tank. Building habits of self-discipline, mental toughness, and perseverance are vital to maintaining the highest levels of performance. Pay attention to the part when he starts referencing what happens when the brain and body are connected together.
Know Thyself - Utilizing a DiSC Index assessment can help you better understand your instinctual modes of operating and how to operate in your flow each day. In addition, it will also help you better understand your employees and partners when you have them take the assessment. Gain insights into the most productive ways to structure your workday and how to best communicate with others on your team based on their style. I’ve been using the DiSC profile for years as a tool to better know myself and my team. Take a few minutes and go do one here at no cost.
